Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go back to a past era?
Have you ever been in an historic home or a museum or even just a building or a house (like a courthouse, perhaps) that's been around for a couple hundred years, or more, and wondered, what if somehow I turn that corner and I'm back in time?
Well, I have. And working at The Oldest House in Laceyville, PA, made me think about this even more. Several of us who volunteer at the House and dress in period clothing have often said that sometimes, especially when no cars go by on the street outside and it is quite still, we can imagine ourselves back in the days when the House was new.
I decided to write A RIVER IN TIME taking that fantasy as inspiration.
A RIVER IN TIME is an historical fiction novel set at and inspired by The Oldest House in Laceyville, PA. It's not so much about the mechanics of time travel as it's about what happens when a modern woman finds herself back in 1795.
This blog will see posts not only about the actual Oldest House, with photos, as it's a living museum and we have different displays and events throughout the year, but also posts about A RIVER IN TIME and its possible sequel, which I'm just thinking about yet and haven't begun.
So all you 18th century and U.S. History buffs, stay tuned!
**Oops, I neglected to mention that the royalties I receive from sales of RIT go to The Oldest House. That's part of the reason I wrote it--that, and the fact that I was just intrigued by the whole idea.
So when you buy a copy, you are helping to preserve an historic treasure! Thank you.
